Chair of Applied Vegetation Ecology

The Chair of Applied Vegetation Ecology is located at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources of the University of Freiburg, Germany. The department is engaged in research and teaching on biodiversity, ecosystem functions, and ecosystem services in various biomes of the earth. We have a focus on global change ecology with projects dealing with the analysis of effects of global climate change, land use and anthropogenic element inputs (e.g. nitrogen deposition) on forest and non-forest ecosystems. In this context, we are particularly interested in the functioning of ecosystems and, with regard to organism groups, in both vascular plants and cryptogams (lichens, bryophytes, fungi).
